Heart of Burren Walks is based in the east of the Burren
which boasts some of the most unspoilt and spectacular
scenery in the west of Ireland.
Heart of Burren Walks endeavours to promote a greater
appreciation of the Burren - Ireland's most precious
landscape. We celebrate the floral diversity, extraordinary
archaeological wealth and unique agricultural system of the
Burren.
Our walking groups are deliberately small in number in order
to make as low an impact as possible on the terrain. We are
also committed to best conservation principles and believe
that the region is best appreciated on foot at a natural
rhythm in the company of an expert local guide.
The Burren is officially defined as a region in a phase of
depopulation. For this reason we use local resources and
service providers wherever possible - our own small
contribution to the sustainability of the community.
Heart of Burren Walks offer half-day and day long guided
walks of some of the more remote and beautiful parts of the
Burren. Tailor made walks of a particular duration or on a
specific theme are also available on request. Due to demand,
weekend walking breaks are also now available. The weekends
combine invigorating walks, quality accommodation and
excellent food.
Our guide Tony Kirby's reading of the landscape is
passionate, informed and humorous. The walks are punctuated
with incisive commentaries on the archaeology, botany,
fauna, geology, agriculture and folklore of the most
precious and delicate terrain in the North West of Europe.
Heart of Burren Walks also proposes guided walking tours in
French and Italian. |
