Walking in County Galway Ireland

The west coast of Ireland is a walkers paradise. Why not come to the edge of Europe, and let us guide you through a magnificent and mystical landscape? There are rambling country lanes to discover, breathtaking coastal paths, ancient pilgrim routes, ribbon like mountain tracks and the moors of Connemara richly scented with flora and fauna.
The walks are suitable for most people who are relatively fit and should be within the capabilities of most. A certain amount of flexibility is allowed in the programme to allow for slower pace or bad weather. The walking pace is moderate with adequate stops for sightseeing, photographs and lunch.

Centre Based Holidays:
Relax fully and avoid the problem of all that packing and unpacking everyday.

Choose a one or two centre based holiday with a maximum of walking and relaxation, with a minimum of bother.

Stay in Westport or divide your break between Westport and Lisdoonvarna, County Clare.

Wallks include :

A 45 minute transfer to Connemara for a hike. Starting on a back country lane the hike moves gently uphill along a bog track rising to a height of 900 feet. This area is known as Mam Ean which translates to "Pass of the Birds" Leaving the pass behind the track goes downhill and enters the Inagh valley. The last 3 miles is on a country lane and finishes by the shores of Lough Inagh.
Distance: 9 miles Ascent: 900 feet Time: 4 hours.

Another walk includes a visit to to the Connemara National Park. This is a very interesting centre and you will clearly see for yourself the development of the Bog. After one hour we will begin our hike, which is located within the confines of the park itself. A gradual good track leads us uphill to the summit of Diamond Hill. At 1450 feet the views of the surrounding countryside are wonderful
Distance: 9 Miles Ascent: 1500 feet Time: 4 hours.
